10 weeks labour...

Is this my first post for this year? Well, happy 2013 to everyone who reads this post of mine.

I must say that this cardigan (shown below) has taken 10 weeks to knit up and there has been a bit of hesitation on deciding if I really wanted to use the yarn that it asked for. I can say it is really worth that little bit extra money. I tend to have a taste for the more expensive stuff in comparison to what my budget normally is. However, I seem to manage to talk myself into going for the stuff at the top end of the market.

This cardigan is knitted with Artesano Aran wool which is made up of 50% alpaca and 50% wool. Lush.

Today, I finally managed to  get some buttons to finish the garment and it looks too good. =) It should be good enough to keep me warm for the rest of the wintery season in the UK.This cardigan makes me very proud.

This cardigan has taught me a new skill, 3 needle cast off.

Spiral rib hat

This was another quick knit that I found online. This hat was knitted up very quickly for a friend's son.

I was given a scarf that his granny made home whilst in Hong Kong. My mission was to find yarn that was similar to the colour baby blue. I didn't know where to start looking. I popped along to my local yarn store to look for some clues. To my surprise the girl knew what it was and advised that it may be slightly different in colour die to the dye lot.

I was quite happy with the yarn so I bought some of it and started to knit. It was so soft to touch and I'm sure it would keep the child very warm in the winter.

Owl keyring

After a few months if not posting, 2012 has slipped past me and 2013 has begun without me knowing. Happy new year to my readers, whoever you are. :)

Who else thinks that January is a bad time to have a birthday? I think it's horrid. Simply it's right after the festive season of Christmas and new year. Most people I would imagine would have spent a lot of money on gifts and food. However, I do feel sympathy for their mums who had to carry them inside their bodies over the festive time and probably not able to have a few drinks.

Anyways, I made this owl keyring for a girl that I work with in the restaurant. She brings me joy when I need it and probably the one that I can wind up the most. I hope she'll love this little owl. It's not perfect I know but it's just a wee gift.
